Jackson Street Petone combines a blend of old world charm and unique heritage buildings.  This adds a funky feel to the variety of specialty shops, cafes, bars and restaurants which stretches nearly a kilometre. Call in on Oyster Gifts and Gallery or NZique for unqiue New Zealand gifts.

 

Eastbourne seaside village offers a more relaxed shopping experience for visitors,  including galleries, giftware, jewellery and antique shops to browse through.  Drop in at Chocolate Dayz, Cobar or The Beach cafe in between looking at the galleries and gift stores.  Eastbourne is the shopping alternative for the visitor who wants to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city!

 

High Street Lower Hutt shopping offers a unique blend of specialty and boutique shopping which sits alongside quality dining and entertainment options and the region's premier shopping destination Westfield Queensgate.

For a unique New Zealand gift or tourist souvenir to take or send home, visit Craftwood Souvenirs in Laings Road, Lower Hutt.

 

Main Street Upper Hutt shopping offers an eclectic mix of specialty stores nestled in a compact area with handy on street parking. Located in the very heart of Upper Hutt is Trentham City Shopping Centre. With 40 planned speciality stores this shopping centre is not to be missed. Free undercover and road side parking alongside Queen Street.

 

Markets are dotted throughout the region the key one is:

  • Riverbank Market Lower Hutt - every Saturday 8am - 2pm.  Closed ANZAC Day and Christmas Day

Swimming Pools

The Hutt Valley has seven public swimming pools.  Huia, Naenae, Stokes Valley and Upper Hutt are indoors and open all year, while Eastbourne, Wainuiomata and Petone are outdoor summer pools.

Naenae Olympic Pool is a public 50m indoor pool complex with a 100m enclosed waterslide called the 'zoom tube' as well as a zip line, drop zone, diving boards, sauna, sunbed and gymnasium.
